techARTS for Girls:
Squeaky Wheel Buffalo Media Resource runs techARTS for girls programs and I am privileged to be a mentor. Once or twice a year Tammy McGovern brings the class to see what we are doing in terms of VR, virtual worlds etc.
2011 - Grad Jody Pfister and Undergrad Leomary Rodriguez gave short hands-on workshops. Leomary built a "hello kitty" 3D model in maya which the girls got to play with (see below). Jody showed them how to position the kitty in a unity3D world she had built, how to animate it with a simple script, and how to use some of the unity terrain sculpting tools. (pics above and below)
